Summer in Antarctica and Winter in Wellington
Sat 20 - Mon 29 Sep 2008
At the start of spring, visitors to the Academy Galleries should be prepared for a cold and wet atmospheric exhibition to remind them of the winter just behind them as well as a unique chance to view a diary of a summer voyage to Antarctica. Wellington based artist and marine engineer Alfred Memelink will be treating the public to a huge variety of artwork based on his recent adventure to the deep south on the NIWA research ship RV Tangaroa. The other half of the exhibition will encompass exciting paintings of Wellington in autumn and winter dress. With his paintings on the gallery walls, Wellington Potters will be celebrating their 50th birthday with a very special exhibition, Ceramicus 08, on the Academy floor space.
