Tai Chi at Karori
Tai Chi is a set of slow, continuous movements connected by smooth even breathing, based on a centuries-old Chinese tradition, to relieve tension and achieve well being for the body and mind. It is particularly recommended by ACC and other health authorities for those unable to engage in more vigorous forms of exercise, to improve muscle tone and balance as an aid to fall prevention.
Tai Chi at the Karori Recreation Centre runs throughout the year, with sessions for beginners and more advanced participants. The basic form was specially designed for the elderly and less fit by international expert Dr Paul Lam. Advanced classes carry on to include a well-known form suited for all levels of fitness. All sessions include qi gong (deep breathing exercises). Come along and see - no charge for first session.
